Wheat Ridge has older homes, big trees and a lot of clay sewer pipe underground. Put those together and you get roots in the line and sewage backing up into the basement. Go Direct Services handles sewer line repair in Wheat Ridge, along with full sewer line replacement, trenchless pipe bursting and water line work. We are a family-owned contractor based in Commerce City.

We camera-inspect the line before we quote anything. You see the footage, and the price matches the pipe you actually have.

Why do tree roots keep clogging sewer lines in Wheat Ridge?

Mature trees need a lot of water, and an old sewer line is a steady source of it. Once a hair-thin root slips through a joint, it feeds, thickens and keeps growing until it fills the pipe.

Clay sewer pipe was laid in short sections, so a typical line has dozens of joints between the house and the main. Each one is a possible way in. That is why roots and clay pipe so often show up together.

Why cleaning only buys time

Drain cleaning ($280) cuts the roots out, and hydro jetting (about $1,000) scours the pipe wall clean. Both get water flowing again. Neither one seals the joints, so the roots come back. More on hydro jetting.

Do I have to remove the tree?

Usually not. Replacing old clay with new pipe that has sealed or seamless joints takes away the gaps roots use, and the tree can stay.

Clay or Orangeburg: what is under your Wheat Ridge yard?

Many Wheat Ridge homes still have their original sewer lines, and those are often clay or Orangeburg. They fail in different ways.

Pipe What it is How it fails
Clay Fired clay in short sections, with a joint every few feet Roots at the joints, cracks, sections that shift out of line
Orangeburg Wood fiber bonded with tar and formed into pipe Softens, blisters and flattens until it can collapse

Clay can sometimes be spot repaired when only one section is bad. Orangeburg is different. When one stretch has deformed, the rest is the same age and usually in similar shape, so we generally recommend replacing the run.

We work all over Wheat Ridge, including Applewood, Paramount Heights and Fruitdale. The camera tells us which kind of pipe you have and how far along it is.

Who handles sewer and water service at my Wheat Ridge address?

Wheat Ridge is not served by one single utility. Water and sewer service here is split between several districts, and the right one depends on where your house sits.

You do not have to sort that out yourself. We confirm the right utility and permit for your address before any work starts.

Does sewer line repair in Wheat Ridge mean replacing the whole line?

Not always. A sewer camera inspection costs $99 and shows us the condition of the pipe from the house to the main. We record the video, note where each problem sits and walk you through what we found.

From there, the fix usually falls into one of these:

  • Roots in a line that is otherwise solid: cleaning or jetting now, with an honest read on how long that will last.
  • One broken or root-packed joint: a spot repair at that location, often with a new clean-out so the line is easy to reach later.
  • Cracks and roots along the length, or failing Orangeburg: full replacement, either by digging or by pipe bursting.

On a clay pipe with roots at joint after joint, one spot repair rarely ends the backups, and we will tell you so.

How much does sewer line repair in Wheat Ridge cost?

These are typical ranges from recent Go Direct jobs across the Denver metro. Each range covers the middle half of our jobs, and the median is where a typical job landed.

  • Spot repair: $4,560–$6,500 (median $5,199)
  • Full exterior sewer line replacement: $9,600–$17,750 (median $12,400)
  • Interior or crawlspace sewer repair or replacement: $4,400–$9,265 (median $7,025)
  • Pipe bursting: varies with length; recent jobs $9,600 to $22,500
  • Water line replacement: $4,650–$10,500 (median $6,500)

If the break is at the tap, where your line meets the main in the street or alley, plan for more. Street and alley tap work often runs into five figures due to street cuts, traffic control and permits.

Your price depends on what the camera shows; every estimate is free and in writing. Our guide to sewer line replacement cost explains what moves the number up or down.

Can you replace a Wheat Ridge sewer line without tearing out the trees?

Often, yes. Pipe bursting replaces the line through two small pits, one near the house and one near the connection. A cone-shaped bursting head is pulled through the old clay or Orangeburg pipe, breaking it outward, while new seamless pipe is pulled in right behind it.

That can spare mature trees, garden beds and walkways that an open trench would cut straight through. The camera helps us judge whether bursting will work on your run.

We do not do pipe lining. If bursting is not a fit, we dig and replace the line the traditional way, and we explain why. Read how pipe bursting works from start to finish.

Could my water line be leaking too?

If your sewer line is original, your water service line may be too. Older water lines are often galvanized steel, which rusts from the inside and slowly narrows, or copper that can develop pinhole leaks.

Clues include weak pressure, rusty or cloudy water, a higher bill with no reason behind it, or a patch of yard that stays wet. A hidden leak calls for exploratory leak excavation. When the whole line is tired, replacing it usually beats paying for one patch after another. More on water line repair and replacement.

Is the work warrantied, and can I pay over time?

Every warranty is in writing, and it transfers to the next owner if you sell the house:

  • Full replacement: 20 years
  • Trenchless pipe bursting: 10 years
  • Spot repairs: 3–5 years

To pay over time, qualifying jobs can use our in-house plan: 0% for up to 12 months, 20% down, no credit check, with autopay. For larger jobs, Wisetack offers monthly payments, subject to credit approval. See our financing options for details.

We also work in neighboring Arvada and Lakewood.

Wheat Ridge sewer line FAQ

Will a root killer fix my sewer line?

Chemical root treatments may slow regrowth for a while, but they do not close the cracked or open joints that let roots in. A camera inspection shows whether the pipe is still sound enough for maintenance or needs repair.

How do I know if my house has Orangeburg sewer pipe?

You usually cannot tell from inside the house. A camera inspection shows the pipe material, along with the blistering and flattening that are typical of aging Orangeburg.

Can you fix my sewer line without hurting a big tree?

Often. Pipe bursting works from two small pits instead of a long trench. We look at where the tree and the line sit before we recommend digging or bursting.

Is it worth replacing a line I can keep clearing?

If you are paying for cleaning again and again, that cost adds up while the pipe keeps aging. A camera inspection helps you compare another round of cleaning with a repair that ends the cycle.

Does the warranty stay with the house if I sell?

Yes. Our sewer and water line warranties transfer to the new owner.
