Golden has two very different kinds of sewer lines. Historic homes near downtown often sit on old clay pipe, while newer neighborhoods deal with sags and settled joints. Go Direct Services handles sewer line repair in Golden for both, along with sewer line replacement, trenchless pipe bursting and water line repair. We are family-owned and based in Commerce City.
A camera inspection tells us which problem you have, so that is where every job starts.
Old clay or settled joints? Sewer line repair in Golden depends on the neighborhood
The age of the neighborhood is a good first clue to what is going on underground. Here is what we tend to find:
| Area | What we often find | Common fix |
|---|---|---|
| Historic homes near downtown, in the East Street Historic District and Goosetown | Old clay sewer lines, mature trees and tight lots | Spot repair, pipe bursting or full replacement |
| Newer neighborhoods like Golden Heights | Sags and settled joints | Dig out and reset the low section, or replace a longer run |
These are patterns, not rules. The camera settles it.
What goes wrong with clay sewer lines in historic Golden homes?
Clay pipe holds up well in the ground, but it was laid in short lengths with many joints. Over decades, those joints shift and open. Mature trees find the gaps and send roots inside.
Roots and cracks
Roots start small and thicken as they feed. They snag paper and grease, then crack the pipe as they grow. An early warning is a basement floor drain that gurgles or backs up when the washer empties.
Tight lots
Many older homes near downtown sit close to the property line, with little room for equipment and piles of dirt. On those lots, how we reach the pipe matters as much as what we replace it with.
Why do newer Golden sewer lines sag?
Newer homes are generally plumbed with plastic sewer pipe, which resists roots and corrosion far better than clay. The weak point is usually the ground underneath it, not the pipe.
If the soil under the line was not compacted well during construction, it can settle over the years. The pipe settles with it, leaving a low spot, or belly, and joints that pull slightly out of line.
Water and waste collect in that belly. Solids drop out and build up, and you get slow drains or a backup with no roots in sight. A short sag can often be dug out and reset to the right slope without replacing the whole line.
What will a camera inspection show at my Golden home?
Our sewer camera inspection costs $99. Here is how it goes:
- We feed a camera through the line from a clean-out or other access point out to the main.
- We record the footage and note the distance to each problem.
- We mark the problem spots on the surface, so we know exactly where a repair would go.
- We walk you through the video and give you a written estimate.
Sometimes the answer is maintenance: drain cleaning at $280 or hydro jetting at about $1,000. Sometimes it is a spot repair with a new clean-out. When the pipe fails in several places, full replacement keeps you from paying for the same line twice.

Can pipe bursting work on a tight Golden lot?
It often can, and tight lots are where it helps most. Instead of a trench from the house to the connection, we dig a small pit at each end. A bursting head breaks the old pipe apart as it is pulled through, and new seamless pipe follows in the same path.
That means less digging next to foundations, fences and the neighbor’s yard, and less to restore afterward. Because bursting follows the old line, it fits clay pipe that is cracked or rooted but still close to the right slope. A sag is different, since the low spot has to be dug out and regraded.
We do not do pipe lining. If the camera shows bursting is not the right call, we dig and replace instead. Learn how pipe bursting works.
Water line repair in Golden: pressure, leaks and old service lines
The water service line runs from the street connection into your house. Older homes may still have galvanized steel, which corrodes inside and chokes down flow, or aging copper that can spring pinhole leaks.
If pressure has dropped, the water looks rusty, the bill has climbed or part of the yard stays soggy, the line may be leaking. We use exploratory leak excavation to find hidden leaks. When the whole line is worn, replacement usually beats repeat repairs. Read more about water line repair and replacement.
For any sewer or water job, we confirm the right utility and permit for your address before work starts.
Warranties and ways to pay
Our warranties are written, and they transfer to the next owner if you sell. Full replacement carries 20 years. Trenchless pipe bursting carries 10 years. Spot repairs carry 3–5 years.
You can also spread out the cost. Our in-house plan is 0% for up to 12 months on qualifying jobs, with 20% down, no credit check and autopay. Larger jobs can use monthly payments through Wisetack, subject to credit approval. The financing page has the details.
We also serve nearby Wheat Ridge and Lakewood.
Golden sewer and water line FAQ
My home is in Goosetown. Is my sewer line likely clay?
It may well be. Many historic homes near downtown, in the East Street Historic District and Goosetown, have old clay sewer lines. A camera inspection confirms the material and its condition.
My Golden Heights home is newer. Why is the main drain slow?
Newer neighborhoods tend to see sags and settled joints. Waste collects in the low spot and builds into clogs. The camera shows where the sag is and how long it runs.
How much room do you need to work on a small lot?
Less than you might think with pipe bursting, which needs a small pit at each end of the line. We plan dig locations and equipment around the space you have.
Can a sag be fixed without replacing the whole line?
Often, yes. If the rest of the pipe is in good shape, we dig out the low section and reset it to the right slope.
Do you take care of permits?
Yes. We confirm the right utility and permit for your address before work starts.
Can I pay for a sewer repair over time?
Yes. Qualifying jobs can use our in-house 0% plan for up to 12 months with 20% down, and larger jobs can use Wisetack monthly payments, subject to credit approval.
